Maya Ollek is an Associate at Sugden McFee Roos. Prior to joining the firm in 2019, she clerked for the Hon. Justice Rosalie Abella at the Supreme Court of Canada and for seven judges at the British Columbia Supreme Court.

Maya is a graduate of McGill University (Bachelor of Arts; Master of Arts) and the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law (J.D.), and spent a year as a visiting student at the University of California-Berkeley, Faculty of Law. During law school, Maya received awards for leadership and academic excellence. While in law school, Maya worked with the Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights and volunteered with legal aid organizations in Toronto, Santa Barbara, and San Francisco. Maya served as Co-Chair of the Feminist Law Students' Association, a Senior Editor of the Journal of Law and Equality, and as the Chief Justice of the Callaghan Memorial Moot. Maya summered with the Santa Barbara County Public Defender's Office and the Crown Law Office - Criminal (Appeals) at the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General.

Before law school, Maya spent several years doing policy work on human rights in conflict and post-conflict settings. Maya was the Government of Canada's lead policy advisor on human rights and governance in Afghanistan as a member of the Afghanistan Task Force at Global Affairs Canada. She held consultant positions in the field of human rights with Global Affairs Canada and the Peacebuild Gender and Peacebuilding Working Group.

Maya practices general litigation. She represents clients and assists senior counsel on a variety of civil and administrative matters at the trial and appellate level, and before diverse administrative bodies.
